So you’ve started the visa application process and it’s now time for the medical examination. You probably fall into one of two categories:
- You’re healthy with no existing medical conditions, or
- You’ve got some medical conditions for which you’re taking medication.
Both categories of applicants usually have one thing in common – they are all nervous and are unsure of what to expect.
Let’s have a look at what happens on the day of the medical exam. Keep in mind that the processes differ depending on the destination country and visa type.
What to expect at your medical examination
When you arrive at our facility, admin staff will greet you, check your identification and confirm your appointment time.
Next, we will register your information on the system and take a photograph for identification purposes.
You will then be called to see the nurses who will record some basic observations. Depending on the destination country and visa type, you may need to see the lab staff after this who will request a urine sample and sometimes a blood sample. Most applicants above a certain age also require a chest x-ray.
Finally you will meet one of our friendly doctors who will talk to you about your medical history, medication, past surgeries and complete a physical examination.
This is also the best time to ask any questions you might have regarding the medical process. Once this is complete, you’re free to leave.
What happens after your medical examination?
Our team will then continue to process the reports and submit them to the relevant authorities within stipulated timelines. Either we or the immigration authorities will contact you via phone or email if any further testing is required.
And that is all there is to it. Don’t forget to check our Frequently Asked Questions page for more information. We’re always available to answer any other questions you might have – just send us an e-mail and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
See you soon!
