What to expect

Information for Immigration Medical Examinations for New Zealand

This is the information you need for your medical examination if you are applying for a visa for New Zealand through Immigration New Zealand (INZ).

Please bring the following

  • Original passport - this is the only accepted form of ID
  • Medical request from Immigration New Zealand (if available)
  • Contact details:
    - local phone number
    - email address
    - home address
  • COVID vaccination certificate (printed)
  • Medical history: medication list, recent blood tests, x-rays, hospital notes, discharge summaries, doctors’ letters or prescriptions
  • Prescription glasses/contact lenses (avoid coloured contact lenses)

Additional Information:

  • No fasting required. Eat & drink normally and take all medications as prescribed by your doctor.
  • Applicants under 16 years of age are required to present with a family member or guardian.
  • Applicants will be provided an Information Sheet on the day of their appointment which they are required to submit with their visa application.
  • All completed medicals are submitted directly to Immigration New Zealand via the eMedical system.
  • Applicants who are aged under 18 years old, or have an intellectual or physical disability, will be allowed to present with a guardian. All other applicants are not allowed an accompanying family member or friend.
